Finland: Trade unions give directions on how to promote parity

Title

How to create a parity plan for a working place and what are the concrete ways of promoting parity? These questions are answered in the new directions that the trade unions have helped to create.

If a work place has at least 30 employees, it has to have a parity plan that explains how the employer promotes parity at work. The central trade unions of Finland SAK, Akava and STTK have together wit other NGOs collected directions that help with creating the plan. SAK lawyer Anu-Tuija Lehto emphasizes that it is the employer's duty to take care that no-one is discriminated against because of their ethnic background, disabilities, health, sexuality, age, union membership, opinions, religion or any other reason connected to their person.
