The MindSpring programme, running from March to December 2023, is a group-based programme that supports refugees with adapting to life in a new country.
The programme raises awareness among its participants, providing them with the knowledge and skills needed to cope with new daily challenges, to avoid problems, and to develop their social networks. The MindSpring method is unique in the sense that group meetings are led by a trainer with lived experiences, origin, and language similar to those of participants, who truly understands participants' situations and is thus able to foster a sense of trust and security within the group.
Each MindSpring target group meets eight times within a two-month period. The programme is designed with the following three groups in mind:
- MindSpring for parents aims to strengthen and support parenting skills. This group focuses on parenting and child rearing, norms and values, children's rights and identity, stress, and trauma.
- MindSpring youth groups focus on adolescence, loneliness, and community, as well as stress, identity, and trauma.
- Mindspring for children aims to strengthen a sense of identity, a positive self-image, self-awareness and self-regulation. Group meetings provide valuable experience and strengthen self-belief, and promote the development of strong relationships with other children.
