The Czech Ministry of Education issued a call for proposals for funding entitled Holiday language courses for foreign migrant children from Ukraine 2022. The funding is being made available for the organisation and development of intensive language courses for children that have fled Ukraine and arrived in the Czech Republic, aged 6 to 18 years.
The aim of this call is to ensure the provision of intensive Czech language instruction to foreign children, thereby removing a major barrier to educational success for children with a different mother tongue. This will promote such children's successful integration and adaptation within their peer group, as well as eliminate the risk of children 'dropping out' of school due to a lack of Czech language skills.
The funding will support the implementation of intensive, 20 hours-long Czech language courses for 6 - 12 children. The amount allocated for each course is CZK 10 000 (approximately EUR 400). Eligible applicants are schools, municipalities, and regions, including voluntary associations of municipalities and their contributory organisations.
The total amount of funding allocated under this call is CZK 100 million (approximately EUR 4 million). The minimum subsidy provided to each recipient is set at CZK 40 000, and the maximum is CZK 1 000 000.
The deadline for submission of applications is 1 July 2022. Further information can be found here.
