The 2025 International Migration Research Network (IMISCOE) Spring Conference will take place on March 17 - 19 2025 in Krems, Austria, and online, organised by the Department for Migration and Globalisation (DEMIG), University for Continuing Education Krems. Its topic is "The Regularity of Irregularity: Rethinking Migration Paradigms".
IMISCOE describes itself as "the largest interdisciplinary network of scholars in the field of migration". It comprises 69 research institutes from different countries and from various disciplines, including sociology, political science, anthropology, economics, law, demography, public administration, geography and history.
The conference organisers invite individual paper and panel submissions for the event, addressing any of 4 overarching themes:
- Irregular migration processes and journeys: aspirations, capabilities and decision-making in the context of irregularised movements
- Integration and settlement processes: rethinking societal and systemic inclusion and exclusion
- Governance of irregular migration: rethinking policy implications
- Knowledge production on irregular migration
Submissions from different disciplines, career stages, and methodological approaches are encouraged. Submitting authors should be affiliated to an institution of higher learning, such as a university, or to an institute of research. The deadline is 6 September 2024.
