The Minority Forum- a Flemish association network- anonymously approached, by telephone, about 251 service
voucher companies in the north of the country, requesting a housekeeper that is “Flemish, not an immigrant”. Two-thirds of the companies that were called complied with this request and specifically searched for a housekeeper “from here”.
This information was reported by various media such as Het Nieuwsblad, De Standaard, Het Belang van Limburg and Gazet van Antwerpen. The investigation had further demonstrated that many businesses that were guilty of discrimination were linked to the authoritie. these businesses are the cleaning services for Public Centres for Social Welfare (CPAS) or Local Employment Agencies (ALE). Non-discrimination is yet one of the conditions for recognition as service voucher companies.
