Austria: More pupils with non-German everyday language

The number of pupils with non-German mother tongue in Austrian schools has risen to 218,596 in the school year 2011/12. Also increased is the number of foreign pupils, by around 2,000 to 115,600 - especially Germans. About ten per cent of pupils have no Austrian passport, 19 per cent speak a language other than German every day.
