Swedish Labour Market Report 2019

Title

The labour market integration of newly arrived people in Sweden is progressing faster. The Swedish Public Employment Service’s annual Labour Market Report for 2019 (Arbetsmarknadsrapport 2019) shows that, among those who arrived in 2013, just over 45 per cent were gainfully employed after five years, compared to under 25 per cent among those who came in 2009.

Overall, the report finds that the situation in the Swedish labour market remains good. In 2018, the share of people employed was the highest in the EU, and employment increased for both natives and foreign-born.

The difference between foreign-born women and foreign-born men, however, remains large. For example, the proportion of men who find employment is much higher than the proportion of women.
