Flag of Romania

The Romanian National Employment Agency published its lastest update on employment support received by people displaced from Ukraine since 24 February 2022.

In Romania, those from Ukraine who are holders of a temporary protection residence permit have access to employment and employment support services in conditions similar to those for nationals, as long as they are registered with local employment agencies.

According to this latest update:

  • 19 396 Ukrainian citizens were registered with the local employment agencies as of 25 September 2023 for services such as information, counselling, and employment facilitation. The majority were settled in Bucharest and Constanta (over 4 600 in each);
  • 1 890 Ukrainian citizens have been employed in various professional sectors as a result of the support services provided by local employment agencies;
  • 5226 vacancies for refugees from Ukraine have been made available to date in industries such as hospitality, textiles, and construction. Most job vacancies involve un- and low-skilled work.
