The House of Brazil in Lisbon published a leaflet of recommendations from migrants on how to deconstruct myths, stereotypes and fake news around immigration.
The list of 16 recommendations highlights the importance of:
- not spreading false information;
- reinforcing educational work, lectures and projects in schools and universities;
- running awareness campaigns on TV, radio and other media and communications platforms;
- valuing the importance of immigrants' contributions to the economy.
These recommendations are a result of the #Migramyths – Demystifying Immigration project, which conducted surveys seeking feedback from immigrants in Portugal in 2020 and 2021. The project is funded by the High Commission for Migration (ACM, I.P.) through the Immigrant Associativism Support Programme.
