Monitoring Report for 2014 on Reception and Social Protection of Unaccompanied Minor Asylum Seekers and Beneficiaries of International Protection

Title

This report commissioned by UNHCR Bulgaria examines the existing legal framework and practice for the reception and social protection of unaccompanied minor asylum seekers and beneficiaries of international protection in Bulgaria. It identifies and analyses existing problems and difficulties and makes recommendations.

The report examines and analyses the situation of unaccompanied minors who sought asylum in Bulgaria in 2014. Data was collected on the care provided during the asylum procedure, after receiving international protection or being rejected.

Various aspects of the overall package of care in the context of international protection are monitored:

  • Access to territory, registration, initial admission, legal and social protection, housing
  • Access to education
  • Access to healthcare
  • Appointment of guardians and guardians, family reunification and integration of unaccompanied children
