Cette charte a été adoptée à Strasbourg le 14 novembre 2012 par une dizaine d'associations. Son objectif est de promouvoir l'interprétariat médical et social professionnel mis en œuvre en France par les associations sans but lucratif dans la visée de favoriser un égal accès de tous à la santé et aux droits sociaux, et conformément à la définition du métier d'interprète médical et social (déontologie, fonctions et compétences), telle que spécifiée par le Groupe de Travail National de cette dizaine d'associations et annexée à la Charte garantissant par son exercice les principes de fidélité, de confidentialité et d'impartialité de l'interprétariat médical et social.
