LU: Millefeuilles, intercultural literary evenings

Millefeuilles organizes informal recitals of literature by a large number of "performers" from very different backgrounds and exchanges with language assistance. Millefeuille is run by Maison des Associations, CCPL (Confédération de la Communauté Portugaise au Luxembourg), Association Inter-Culturelle, AWM (African Women Movement).

Project Goal

The aim of this project is intercultural sharing and broadening minds through literature in all its forms of expression.  Third country nationals are the target audience, as well as nationals from Luxembourg and other EU countries.  Our vision is that integration is facilitated through the discovery of other cultures and personal exchanges.  Each "performer" is free to express hismself in the language of his choosing and our team projects a simultaneous translation in French.  Thus, our evenings offer a better understanding of third country nationals, their cultures and language and their lives.

How it works

We contact different local associations in order to organise an evening in a village in Luxembourg.  The tasks are shared among our partners.  We work with local contacts to make sure the population of the village participates.

Results

In 2013 seven evenings were organised where between 40 and 80 people were present.

The evaluation shows very positive effects on encountering, exchanging, promoting intercultural activities.
