Instruments for the Multiplication of Intercultural Communication Skills – Foundation of the Social Integration of TCNs

The general purpose of the project was to improve the relevant skills and knowledge regarding intercultural communication of the representatives of the non-profit sector and local and central public authorities in four counties in Romania (Timis, Iasi, Cluj Napoca, Constanta) and Bucharest, all of which are relevant in the field of social integration of TCNs. 

Project Goal

The specific objectives of the project were:

  • To create a body of public servants within central and local authorities with competencies in the field of intercultural communication
  • To create a body of representatives of the NGO sector, trained in the field of intercultural communication
  • To create a network of multipliers in the field of intercultural communication who would support the process of social integration of TCNs in Romania
  • To promote working tools (Training Manual in the field of intercultural communication) useful to public servants and local and central public authorities, as well as to representatives of the NGO sector in the process of social integration of TCNs
  • To raise awareness of the public on the initiatives for the social integration of TCNs
  • To promote good practices in the field of continuous training of public servants and NGO representatives in the support of the social integration process of the TCNs.

 

 

How it works

 

The main activities of the project included: 

 

  • Organisation of two press conferences (for the launch and closing of the project)
  • Editing information and promotion materials for the project
  • Editing a Training Manual in the field of intercultural communication and organising 10 training sessions in the field of intercultural communication at national level
  • Creating a discussion group for the participants to those trainings
  • Creating an online platform aimed at promoting the project and disseminating the results and the best practice model. 

 

 

Results

 

The project had the following results:

 

  • Two conferences were organised: one for the launch of the project, one for its closing
  • The following materials were edited, published and disseminated: 1259 presentation folders, 7117 flyers, 462 posters, 2 banners, 2917 Training Manuals
  • 12 training sessions for 120 public servants and 90 NGO workers were organised in Timisoara, Cluj Napoca, Iasi, Bucharest, Constanta and Bacau
  • A discussion group was created: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/integrareresortisant
  • An online platform was created, specifically for the project, and is constantly updated: www.integrareresortisant.adramediere.ro 

 

 

Evaluation

 

The project used quantitative indicators for the evaluation of the activities, corresponding to the results of the project shown above, namely the number of public events and training sessions organised, the number of promotional materials published, the number of copies of the Manual that were printed and disseminated, creation of the online tools and their traffic, etc. 

No obstacles or problems arose during implementation.  After the closing of the project, it was audited by the Court of Accounts and no financial irregularities were found.

100 local and central public servants from Timi_oara, Ia_i, Cluj Napoca, Constanca and Bucharest. 75 NGO workers in Timi_oara, Ia_i, Cluj Napoca, Constanca and Bucharest;

Funding and resources

The budget for the entire project amounted to 324.222,20 lei out of which:  

 

  • 75% EU funds (243.166,65 lei);
  • 20% national budget funds (64.884,44 lei);
  • 5% contribution of the NGO (16.211,11 lei).
