Information and awareness raising of the host society through a media campaign

The project involved activities in information and awareness raising through a campaign launched by the Media and a meeting intending to eliminate eventual anachronistic stereotypes, phenomena of racism and xenophobia, to promote diversity, the value of interculturalism in Greek society and a tolerance for diversity.

Project Goal

1. Consolidating social cohesion and eliminating phobic syndromes within local societies. 2. Strengthen interaction between the Greek culture and other different cultures and through their harmonious co-existence maximize the tolerance for diversity.

How it works

The project included: central message for the information campaign on the TV, lasting 25 seconds, 18 advertisements in the newspapers, information campaign through an opinion poll, one-day conference with the participation of local, regional and national government, natives and TCNs.

Results

The Action was completed by fulfilling the objectives set. Some differentiations occurred in relation to the outputs relevant to the meeting and particularly inasmuch as the participants of each level of administration did not provide sufficient attendance, despite wide dissemination measures. It is of particular importance that the resulting attendance of third country nationals over exceeded expectations.

Evaluation

The project was evaluated by an external evaluator according to the standard evaluation procedure under EIF (art. 48 (2) (b) of Decision 2007/435/EC).

Source: European Fund for the Integration of Third Country Nationals Budget: 784.905,74 € of which 75% is Community funding and 25% is national funding.
