Slovakia: U.S. Embassy small grants programme promotes tolerance, integration and cross-cultural understanding

Title

Within its small grants programme the U.S. Embassy in Slovakia is now offering funding to projects with a focus on - among other priorities - securing human rights, fostering a culture of tolerance and integration, and promoting cross-cultural understanding.

Those eligible for funding include individuals and not-for-profit organisations. Preferred, but not required, project audiences are primary and high school teachers, as well as students. The embassy prefers to fund sustainable, longer-term projects rather than one-off events.

Examples of eligible projects include:

  • Programmes and outreach activities highlighting shared values and human rights;
  • Academic and professional lectures, seminars, and speaker programs;
  • Youth leadership and skills development programs;
  • Artistic and cultural workshops, joint performances, and exhibitions.

Length of implementation period is generally up to 12 months, and no more than 24 months. The amount of funding granted will range from a minimum of 1 000 USD to a maximum of 24 999 USD. In exceptional cases, funding of up to 150 000 USD could be considered.

The next deadline for application submission is 31 July 2021.
