Romania: Debate on a National Strategy for Immigration 2015-2018

Title

On 20 March 2015, the Romanian Ministry for Internal Affairs has initiated a debate on the project of a National Strategy on Immigration for the period 2015-2018. A number of NGOs active in the field of migration have joined forces and published a common document containing commentaries and observations regarding the proposed content of the Strategy.

Taking into account the importance and complexity of this matter, a public consultation has also been solicited. As a result, a consultation has taken place on 11 May with the participation of representatives of the signatory organisations and the General Inspectorate for Immigration. The National Strategy on Immigration for 2015-2018 is yet to be adopted.
