The Migration Information and Integration Centre (MICenter) in Vilnius opened 23 October to provide refugees and other migrants with integration information and services. It is run by the International Organization for Migration (IOM).
The wide-ranging services offered by the centre include consultations on general living and integration issues, legal advice, career counselling, and psychological counselling. It also provides free translation of documents, case management, excursions, and canine and art therapy.
According to IOM expert Edita Urbanovič, the organisation has 'long felt the need to open a one-stop shop to provide information and services ... in Lithuania, a migrant often has to go to several different offices and institutions to get all the answers and to arrange the necessary documents'.
Currently, some services are targeted only at people who have fled the war in Ukraine; however, as of 2024, efforts are made to ensure access for migrants from other countries. Eventually, all services will be accessible to all migrants.
