Estonian NGO Loovalt koos (Creating Together) is collaborating with IOM Estonia to run a new project that aims to empower vulnerable groups in Estonian society. It will engage with children, young people, and women who have fled the war in Ukraine, and will support and raise awareness among teachers and support staff in Estonian schools.
The project comprises three key activities:
- A programme of summer camps that brings together Ukrainian, Russian, and Estonian children and young people, and engages them in creative activities such as photography, acrobatics, painting, and hip-hop dance.
- A support group for women: a set of activities where the target group will spend time outside the city, perform a number of exercises to support mental health, and learn about Estonian nature.
- A series of workshops for teachers and support professionals. This activity will be run by a therapy professional, and will provide the target group with a set of practices tailored to the needs of children displaced from Ukraine.
These activities will promote mutual adaptation and social inclusion between the local population and those newly arrived from Ukraine.
