Czech Republic: UNICEF funding for children with disabilities who have fled Ukraine

Flag Czech Republic EWSI

UNICEF, in cooperation with the Czech Red Cross (CRC) and the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs (MoLSA), launched a financial assistance programme for refugee children from Ukraine who have disabilities and have been granted temporary protection in the Czech Republic (in response to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine). This financial assistance is intended to support refugee families with children with disabilities, who tend to face greater difficulties in accessing the labour market. It will also support the coverage of additional costs related to these children's disabilities that are not covered by public health insurance.

The programme will provide a monthly grant of CZK 6 600 to each eligible child aged 0-17 years residing in the Czech Republic. The programme is expected to last for the duration of the temporary protection status granted under the Lex Ukraine V law to those fleeing Ukraine (until March 2024).

Further, more detailed information on the programme and how to apply is available online in Czech and Ukrainian.
