
The Cypriot Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasoulides participated in the informal Ministerial Meeting of the Mediterranean Group (Med Group), held in Alicante, Spain on April 16, 2014, and discussed the proposal to upgrade the Cyprus political dialogue in the framework of the "Union for the Mediterranean". According to an official announcement, the Mediterranean Group established on the initiative of the Cypriot Minister of Foreign Affairs and is an informal group for consultation and coordination of the seven Mediterranean EU Member States (Cyprus, Greece, France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Malta). On of the primary issues on which the MedGroup will work is the issue of migration and how the members will support each other.
