The first information centre for foreigners in Croatia has opened in Zagreb, where foreign workers and displaced persons can obtain information about their rights, obligations, and the services provided by the City of Zagreb all in one place, in a language they understand.
The opening of the centre is one of the measures of the City of Zagreb's Action Plan for implementing the Integrating Cities Charter for 2023 and 2024, and one of the city's major steps to facilitate the integration of foreigners into everyday city life.
Mr. Tomislav Tomašević, the Mayor of the City of Zagreb, and Ms. Anna Rich, the UNHCR representative in Croatia, signed a cooperation agreement on 19 September for the centre's operation. It will provide information on social and health protection, enrollment in kindergartens, primary and secondary schools, scholarship opportunities for students with approved international and temporary protection, general legal information, information on regulating civil status (marriage registration, partnership registration, birth registration, etc.), Croatian language courses, and other integration activities.
The centre is located at Petrinjska 31, Zagreb (in the passage), and is open on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 8 AM to 4 PM, and on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 AM to 6 PM. The schedule of visits by law clinic students, as well as translators and cultural mediators, will be published on the website, along with other pertinent information.
