The EU-funded Whole-COMM project, which worked to enhance migrant integration strategies in small localities across Europe, held its final conference in May.
A large number of useful publications were produced over the course of the project, including policy briefs and country-level reports. The reports focus on multilevel dynamics, access to services, and social relations, individual attitudes and migrant integration experiences.
In July the project published its final EC policy brief and strategy paper. These can be found attached below, along with policy briefs on the following topics:
- Improving migrant integration in small and medium-sized towns
- Housing and employment for post-2014 migrants: lessons from small and medium-sized towns and rural areas
- Encouraging interactions between recent migrants and long-term residents in smaller communities
- Key challenges and policy options in fostering social cohesion and positive attitudes towards the integration of migrants at the local level
A toolbox was also produced, designed to support small and medium-sized towns and rural areas across Europe in developing inclusive and efficient integration policies for migrants, including refugees. It enables local level policymakers, local government officials, municipal departments, service providers, civil society organisations, and employment agencies to adopt local innovative measures and policies for the inclusion of migrants and refugees in line with EU and international standards. View the toolbox online here or download it below.
