The Greek Forum of Migrants (GFM) published a guide on addressing racist violence in Greece entitled Speak Up - Report Hate Crime”, created in collaboration with the European Network Against Racism (ENAR).
The guide offers comprehensive instructions in multiple languages (GREEK, ENGLISH, FRENCH, UKRAINIAN, ALBANIAN, GEORGIAN, ARABIC, FARSI, URDU). It defines racist violence as targeting individuals based on race, colour, national or ethnic origin, religion, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender characteristics.
In addition to sharing information on key issues related to and definitions of hate crime and hate speech, the guide provides specific information for those experiencing or witnessing racism. It also gives step-by-step instructions for addressing racist bullying in schools, advising parents on where to seek external guidance if school-level resolution is insufficient.
The guide was created following a workshop at the offices of the GFM, with representatives from the Racist Violence Response Unit of the Greek Police, the Racist Violence Recording Network (RVRN), and HIAS Greece, at which participants concluded that a multilingual guide needed to be issued to address racist violence in Greece.
