
Lena and Władysław Grochowscy, winners of the Nansen Award and Honorary UN Ambassadors for Refugees in Poland, are organising a conference concerning the housing situation of refugees from Ukraine in Poland.
The event will be held under the patronage of UNHCR and IOM. It will focus on the following key issues:
- the future of collective accommodation centres
- financially accessible housing for those who intend to stay in Poland
- protection of the most vulnerable people, including individuals with disabilities
- implementation of good practices from other countries
- the government's long-term strategy for housing policy and refugee integration
- challenges related to private sector involvement.
Participants in the discussions will include:
- Professor Maciej Duszczyk, Deputy Minister of the Interior and Administration
- Kevin J. Allen, UNHCR Representative in Poland
- Livia Styp-Rekowska, Head of the IOM Mission in Poland
- Władysław Grochowski, Board Member of the Lena Grochowska Foundation and President of the Arche Group
- representatives of refugees and NGOs.
There are approximately 1 million refugees from Ukraine living in Poland, with 1 in 5 in various collective accommodation centres.
