On 15 June 2022, non-governmental organisation Diversity Development Group will hold the final conference of international project Solidarity in a Future Europe – “Policies of (Un)welcome – Regional Perspectives”.
The event will engage speakers from Central and Eastern European and Mediterranean regions in discussion on refugee reception and integration in the crisis context. Participants will compare regional approaches to three thematic situations: events that enfolded in the Mediterranean region in 2015 - 2016, the increase in irregular migration across Belarus in 2021, and reception conditions for refugees from Ukraine in 2022.
In particular, the conference will be constructed around the following themes:
- examples and causes of solidarity (or lack thereof) in the initial stages of the reception of refugees and migrants;
- lessons learnt from previous migration waves (at local, national, and EU level);
- ways to better respond to migration waves in the future;
- discussion of long-term approaches to the integration of refugees;
- good practices in and advice on protecting vulnerable persons from exploitation and human trafficking.
The event will be held in English in Vilnius, Lithuania. Please register here by 14 June.
More information and the full conference agenda can be accessed here and on the event's Facebook page, and additional information about the Solidarity in a Future Europe project can be found here.
