This half day event and panel debate will launch a compendium by Eurochild and SOS Children’s Villages International documenting inspiring practices on migrant and refugee children in Europe. The debate will in particular focus on how lessons from the ground can better inform policy implementation. Attendees will also exchange on how actors from EU, national and local levels can better cooperate to ensure that refugee and migrant children are treated as children.
The compendium to be presented describes how child protection services are responding to the specific needs of refugee and migrant children, and aims to contribute in providing quality family and community-based care. Gathering 16 case-studies from Europe, it is meant to support national and EU level advocacy and be an advising tool for policy-makers on investment priorities and long-term benefits of realising the rights of every child for the society as a whole.
The event will bring together decision makers, civil society organisations and relevant stakeholders from EU, national and local levels. See speakers and register until 10 November 2017.
