The Immigrant Council of Ireland is holding a series of four free, confidential online immigration clinics for migrant women living in the West of Ireland, as a way of addressing gaps in available services. The clinics are aimed particularly aimed at women affected by domestic violence, who may be at risk of further abuse due to their immigration status. This overlap between domestic violence and immigration status has been previously highlighted by both civil society actors and migrant women themselves.
The four clinics will provide free, confidential legal information to help migrant women in abusive situations to better understand their immigration rights and to seek independent resident status for themselves and their children.
The clinics will take place once a month via Zoom, in the form of appointments of 20 minutes. Interpretation will be available in several languages. The timetable is available here.
The Immigrant Council also runs a dedicated outreach programme for migrant women affected by domestic violence: the Community Navigators programme.
