The conference Emergency reception to integration at local level, best practices in the Nordic and Baltic countries takes place on 27 May at the national Museum of Estonia in Tartu, and can also be attended online.
The event is organised by the Nordic Council of Ministers’ Offices in Estonia in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture of Estonia, the University of Tartu, Tartu Welcome Centre, the City of Tartu and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) Representation for the Nordic and Baltic Countries.
The importance of integration has become increasingly evident after the start of war in Ukraine and arrival of all those fleeing from it. The conference creates space to share integration practices involving refugees and migrants in the region. Local governments representatives, NGOs and state organisations from the Nordic-Baltic region will present practical knowledge and data on migration and integration from their home countries and organisations. This will be followed by joint discussions.
The conference is held in the framework of the 2022-2023 project FOR-IN. It aims to foster integration at the local level by creating country-specific, intersectional cooperation models and regional networks of practitioners in the Nordic-Baltic region. FOR-IN is a collaboration of the Nordic Council of Ministers, the UNHCR Representation for the Nordic and Baltic Countries, the Ministry of Culture of Estonia, the Ministry of Education and Research of Estonia and other partners.
