Poland: Integration of children displaced from Ukraine in Poland

Flag of Poland

This seminar will examine the integration of children displaced from Ukraine in Poland. It will gather both academics and practitioners, including representatives of state and local authorities, specialising in the problems of migrant children in schools.

The first part of the seminar will focus on the education of children displaced from Ukraine in both Polish and Ukrainian schools in Warsaw. Examples of initiatives to integrate refugee children outside the school environment will also be presented. In the second part of the seminar speakers will address the problems faced by children displaced from Ukraine from the perspective of school psychologists and educators. Examples of support for teachers in multicultural school and preschool environments will also be presented. Additionally, a representative of the Polish Ombudsman will discuss challenges related to the presence of refugees from Ukraine in Poland and propose long-term solutions.

The seminar is organised within the framework of the University Observatory on Deinstitutionalisation of Aid Practices (UODI), a collaborative effort between three units of the University of Warsaw: the Faculty of Applied Social Sciences and Social Reintegration (WSNSiR UW), the European Centre (CE UW) and the Professor Robert Zajonc Institute for Social Studies (ISS UW).
