Empowering Migrant Voices: European Parliament roundtable

The consortium of the Empowering Migrant Voices project is organising a European Parliament roundtable event on Wednesday 15 November.

The event will be co-hosted by MEP Thomas Waitz (Greens, AT), MEP Matjaž Nemec (S&D, SI), MEP Jan-Christoph Oetjen (Renew, DE), MEP Stelios Kouloglou (GUE/NGL, GR).

This roundtable event will see presentation of recommendations made by the European good practice guide on migrant participation, as well as of demands and recommendations raised by migrants during EMVI participation.

Political participation of migrants and their descendents is key for the well-being of our societies, our democracies and the stability of our economies: as the EU Action Plan on Integration and Inclusion points out, “the European way of life is an inclusive one”. The Empowering Migrant Voices on Integration and Inclusion policies project (EMVI) therefore aims to enable and empower the participation of migrants in the design and implementation of policies and to bring their concerns to local, national and EU decision makers.

Programme

  • Opening statements by MEPs
  • Presentation of the EMVI Good Practice Guide Recommendations
  • Presentation of the Migrants’ demands and recommendations
  • Responses by MEPs and EC representative
  • Open discussion followed by photo moment

Registration is open until 6 November 2023. Please email stefan.grasgruber-kerl@suedwind.at to register.
