Dialogue for hybrid integration: narratives and promotion of agency of children with a migrant background

The Centre for Ethnicity and Migration Studies (CEDEM) is organising the "Dialogue for hybrid integration: narratives and promotion of agency of children with a migrant background" conference on 9 -10 June in Brussels.

The event is the final conference of EU-funded research project CHILD-UP. The CHILD-UP project focuses on the integration of migrant children in Europe, aiming to offer an innovative approach to improving their social integration. The event will present the project's main research findings, and is intended to be a meeting point for the fields of school education, child welfare, scientific research, and public policy. It will facilitate the exchange of knowledge and experience on how to approach the diverse integration challenges facing migrant children in European society.

Participation in the conference is free, but prior registration is compulsory.

Conference schedule:

Day 1 :

  • Presentation of the CHILD-UP project and its results.
  • Round table discussion with the participation of representatives of the CHILD-UP Scientific Council, the International Stakeholder Committee, the European Commission and national authorities.
  • Parallel sessions on research, practice and policy development.

Day 2 :

  • Presentation of the results of the parallel sessions.
  • Ideas forum : Hackathon.
  • Round table discussing on the Hackathon proposals.
  • Final remarks.
