Denmark: Health inequality for elderly people with migrant background

Flag of Denmark

NGO Mino Danmark and the Danish Health Authority are organising a 'Mino Talk' in Copenhagen which will examine the role that ethnic differences play in health outcomes, and why they are relevant to the issue of equal access to health. Elderly people with a migrant or refugee background tend to experience more health issues than elderly Danish natives, as well as more challenges in accessing health care. Event discussion will look at why this is the case, and what can be done to improve it.

Obstacles in access to health care - a basic right for all citizens - can have a negative impact on integration. With this in mind, the event will provide space for citizens with a migrant background to share their related experiences and concerns. A number of people who are experts on the topic of access to health care have been invited to speak on the panel.

The event is free and open to all. It will be held in Danish, but some translation will be available. Registration is not necessary.
